Does your car "fit you? Find out in 20 minutes!

Saturday, May 14, 12 - 4 p.m.

Chula Vista CarFit Helps Improve Comfort and Safety "Fit" for Drivers 50+ years of age. If you're not 50+ years of age, you may know someone 50+ . . . Does your car "fit you? Find out in 20 minutes! As we age, changes in our vision, flexibility, strength, range of motion and even size and height may make us less comfortable and reduce our control behind the wheel. CarFit provides adults 50+ with tools to understand and apply the safety features of their car. What is CarFit?: CarFit is an educational program, offered in English or Spanish, focusing on giving older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles "fit" them (this is not a driving evaluation or a mechanical inspection). Certified technicians review 12 key areas of their fit to their car, such as adequate space from the steering wheel, proper seat belt use, wheel tilt, visual blind spots, airbag position, and more. Participants learn how to use and adjust their safety devices from occupational therapists, who educate and provide on-the-spot suggestions, as well as handout information on community-specific resources in a non-threatening, quick and easily accessible manner geared to enhance their safety as drivers. CarFit was created by the American Society on Aging and developed in collaboration with AAA (American Automobile Association), AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association. Reserve your spot by calling, (619) 641-7020 today, and ask for the location in Chula Vista.
