The Art of Marriage Retreat

Friday, November 4, 9 a.m. - Saturday, November 5, 9:30 p.m.

The Art of Marriage retreat is for anyone (married, engaged, dating, or single) who wants to fine-tune their thinking about marriage and be better equipped for relationship success. The retreat is Friday, Nov. 4 (7:00-9:30pm) - Saturday, Nov. 5 (9am-4pm) and weaves together expert teaching, real life stories, humorous vignettes, and a whole lot more from six video sessions. Each topic leaps onto our big-screens from marriage experts and respected Christians leaders such as Dennis & Barbara Rainey, Voddie Baucham, Wayne & Margaret Grudem, Dave Harvey, and a host of others as they communicate with humor and insight about God’s purpose and plan for marriage. You will learn how to communicate well, overcome loneliness, take ownership of your role in the relationship, work through conflict, obtain/increase intimacy, and leave a lasting family legacy. Your registration includes The Art of Marriage workbook for each participant, 6-sessions of marriage preparation and improvement tips, snacks, lots of fun, and a fresh hope for living life in a new way. There will be a lunch break on Saturday for you to enjoy one of the nearby eateries (not included in price). There is no childcare available as we want to provide a setting that is without distraction and allows each participant to relax and get the most out of their time away. Come join us! Media Misuse Presentation – “One Click Away”

Friday, November 4, 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Email, iPhones, laptops, and cell phones dominate our modern world. The internet is virtually available at any time, at any place. We are now more wired than ever. Mainstream research demonstrates a growing problem. How does all this exposure affect our families? Society is recognizing the growing problem with internet misuse. In 1996 the U.S. Department of Justice stated, “Never before in the history of telecommunications media in the U.S., has so much indecent (and obscene) material been so easily accessible by so many minors in so many American homes with so few restrictions.” A recent Wall Street Journal article claimed, “This is a public hazard of unprecedented seriousness…we must educate ourselves and our children…” For children, teens, and young adults the reality of media interwoven into everyday life is their first language – but what happens when it all goes wrong? The majority of our nation’s youth will not reach 11 years old before being exposed to sexually explicit material on the internet ---something many carry in their pocket or purse. Who is educating the next generations regarding the dangers of media misuse and the negative effects on families? The Novus Project is a community dedicated to preventing the relationally damaging effects of media misuse. They work to expose the consequences of media misuse upon an individual’s brain and the damaging effects explicit material produces in relationships, personal health and society at large. November 4-5th, national speakers and authors, James and Terri Craft, are coming to Coronado to raise awareness, provide tools and offer support to local families on this epidemic harm to society.
